The traditional 9-5 job was born out of necessity. Documents were physically filed away in storage rooms, accounting had to be done by sifting through crumpled receipts, and collaboration was only able to occur if everyone sat around the same meeting room. As technology has advanced, copies of everything are housed in the cloud and can be access from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. Communication and teamwork aren’t limited to a face-to-face interaction anymore.

In the short answer, yes. According to Gallup, 37% of in-office days per week are expected to be swapped for remote working.
