3 Reasons Why Employees Love a Hybrid Work Schedule

Is the Traditional Office Space Dead?
The option to work from home has proven incredibly popular and necessary in the last few years, pushing employers to offer remote and hybrid work to its employees. While some companies were thrown into this new way of working due to mandated shutdowns, others had already embraced the forward-thinking option for their employees due to a multitude of reasons including better work-life balance, more flexibility for employees, and overall safety.
Hybrid work schedules just make sense.
In an interesting 2021 survey of 9,000 Accenture workers, 83% actually preferred hybrid work versus fully remote.
Employers around the world are seeing parallels to this survey in their own employees voicing opinions on the hybrid working model. While businesses can each implement hybrid work in different ways, the underlying theme typically includes a few days in office per week with the remaining being remote.

For employees, hybrid work benefits often far outweigh the negatives like new home office costs and extra technology training from their employers. As gas prices raise, hybrid workers are especially thankful for their limited in-office commutes during the week. Plus, there tend to be fewer distractions from coworkers when working from home, making productivity levels increase for many.
Hybrid Work Schedules and Mental Health
Now that society is much more aware of the struggles that many face with mental health and being able to find a work-life balance, it’s important for employees to be able to put themselves first. Hybrid work can often lessen the stress and anxiety people have in-office by breaking up the days and finding a better balance between the social aspect & individual workload that employees carry.

On the one hand, working in-office 5 days a week from 9-5 can lead to burnout while working remotely can be extremely isolating and lonely. With hybrid work, employees can find the right combination to work for them.
Employees Use the Flexibility of Hybrid Work to Their Advantage
Some people work better in the evenings than in the mornings, and vice versa. With a hybrid work schedule, employees can better play to their strengths because they have the flexibility to work in a different way than what is typically demanded of them.

Additionally, employees can take advantage of hybrid work to better take care of family members, keep up with doctors appointments, and more. When businesses allow employees to take on a hybrid schedule, workers are often less stressed and happier overall.
Hybrid Work for Better Employee Safety
With health still being a number one priority as COVID-19 continues, workers can seriously benefit from utilizing a hybrid work schedule. A rotating schedule of workers can give cleaners longer times to thoroughly clean and safety measures to be better enforced.

By having less employees in office at once, there is an obvious increase in employee safety. The more businesses can put their employees first, the more they will reap the benefits of lower employee turnover and higher employee satisfaction.

Common Complications of Embracing a Hybrid Office
For businesses, making the switch to hybrid work isn’t as simple as it might be for their employees. In fact, implementing such a change needs to be planned, strategized around, and well-researched in order to appropriately prepare the company for the future of its work.

Without the right system in place, both operations staff and employees can struggle with the big change a hybrid office can be. An in-office solution might include a rudimentary booking system that has frequent overbookings and can lead to frustration. On the other hand, hiring an outside company that offers a one-size-fits-all software might seem to work at first, but quickly show its flaws.

In order for employees to truly love their hybrid work schedule, employers must be prepared for the major change – whether that’s completely changing the layout of the office, implementing new digital & in-office training, or utilizing a desk booking software!
